FAQS

NEED SOME QUICK ANSWERS?

At Hidden Treasures, we hope your experience with us is as simple and uncomplicated as possible. Check out some of our frequently asked questions below to help you get the information you’re looking for. Please contact us with any other thoughts or questions.

WHAT ARE DIGITAL DOWNLOAD PRODUCTS?

Some of our products are described as 'digital downloads'. This means that you will not receive a physical item, but instead a PDF file which you can print off as many times as you like. This does not give you permission to re-sell or share the file with others, it is for your personal use only. Digital downloads are much less expensive than a physical product (i.e., book or poster).

WHAT ARE THE PAYMENT OPTIONS?

You can currently pay by Paypal, Apple Pay, Klarna or by using a credit or debit card

WHAT IS YOUR RETURNs POLICY?

There is no return policy for digital files. Physical products may be returned within 30 days at the customer's expense, and we will offer an appropriate refund if requested. Unless faulty, items must remain in their original packaging and be unworn with any tags or labels still attached. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

DO YOU OFFER A MEMBERSHIP/SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE?

This is something we are currently working on, and hope to make available at some point in the future.

DO YOU OFFER GIFT CARDS?

Yes, we offer digital gift cards - please check out the Site Menu for the link to order.

IS THERE ANY GUIDANCE  OR SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES USING THE HIDDEN TREASURES CURRICULUM?

Yes, we have compiled several videos and tutorials on how to get the most out of the 'Emerald Island' curriculum and hope to soon do the same for 'Little Gems'. You can access these through the website ot via our Youtube channel.

As well as our shop Facebook page, we also have an open community group, 'Hidden Treasures Homeschool Curriculum' for families to share ideas and ask questions: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2174515139392127 .
We want to support parents, teachers and students as much as possible.

WHAT EXACTLY IS A 'UNIT STUDY'?

A Unit Study takes a topic (in this case, Ireland) and explores many different aspects of it, touching on many different academic subjects. For example, in 'Welcome to Emerald Island' we touch on geography, history, geology, poetry, social studies, literature, art and the Irish language; amongst others. We encourage discussion and personal reflection throughout. We intended the unit study to be substantial enough to be your main curriculum, though of course you are free to break it up into as many sections as you wish. If studied full-time, you should only need to add a Maths and English Language programme (or other languages) for one year's learning.

IS THE EMERALD ISLAND CURRICULUM ACCESSIBLE?

We intend to produce an audiobook version of the curriculum which we hope will help make it more accessible for many users. Our podcast will be launching soon which will help with this, and also aid in the pronunciation of Irish and local placenames, etc. The programme itself is intended to be as clear and legible as possible, with the majority of text font size 10 or above. We can, however, provide a larger print digital version if required. We do not offer a braille publication at present. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any suggestions or concerns.

IS THE CURRICULUM INCLUSIVE?

We have tried to make our curriculum inclusive and open while maintaining the authenticity of the subject matter. We have included images of people from different ethnic backgrounds, family groups and cultures throughout, and have tried to include examples of Irish citizens with mixed heritage or who are differently abled. We touch on slavery, racism, intolerance and sectarianism in the Emerald Island curriculum. We try to do this in as sensitive a way as possible, whilst remaining honest with regard to the impact of these issues.

In Little Gems, we discuss disability, diversity, and inclusivity; and teach simple sign language. We are always willing to learn and improve, so do contact us if you have any concerns or suggestions, but also if you think we're doing something right! We welcome your feedback.

WHAT DENOMINATION OR RELIGION ARE THE HIDDEN TREASURES PROGRAMMES AIMED AT?

We are simple Bible-believing Christians. We intend our curriculum to come from a nondenominational, Christian perspective. As much as possible, information on sectarian issues is presented in a neutral way. We try to encourage empathy and understanding of different communities and people groups throughout. Non-Christians are also very welcome to purchase and use the curriculum, just do be aware that God is mentioned and the Bible is quoted throughout.

WHAT SUPPLIES DO I NEED TO COMPLETE THE EMERALD ISLAND UNIT STUDY?

You will need a copy of the Emerald Island Textbook, either physical or PDF. We also recommend a copy of the Student Workbook - this is not essential, but works alongside the main book. We refer to two core texts throughout the course - these can be purchased second-hand or via Amazon or other bookstores. You may even be able to access them in your local library.  Other items (such as stationary and paper supplies) are detailed in the textbook's supply list, as well as a list of optional read-alouds.

WHAT VERSION OF THE BIBLE ARE THE MEMORY VERSES FROM?

We use the KJV version as standard for the memory verses in the EMERALD ISLAND textbook, and the CSB version in the LITTLE GEMS textbook. These are both considered well-researched and accurate translations. We do not use or recommend a storybook Bible (though you can use one if you choose to). The EMERALD ISLAND workbook contains KJV and CSB versions, and we can also provide the ESV version of these in PDF if requested. Please feel free to use your family's preferred version for the Bible readings and meditations; this should not affect the aims of the passages in question. Please let us know if you would like us to provide another version, and we will do our best to accommodate.

HOW CAN I FIND OUT THE MEASUREMENTS FOR A CLOTHING ITEM?

You can find measurements for our standard items via the Sizing Guide linked in the Site Menu. Any other sizing charts will be available in product descriptions.

ARE PRODUCTS AVAILABLE FOR WHOLESALE OR BULK ORDER?

Yes, most physical items and books are available for wholesale. Wholesalers can contact us via our email,  hiddentreasureshomeschool@gmail.com, by chat, or by using the contact forms in the site menu. Discounts are available for bulk wholesale purchase. We also offer discounted rates for church groups or those in full-time ministry.

WHAT DO I NEED TO COMPLETE THE LITTLE GEMS CURRICULUM?

You will need a copy of the Little Gems textbook, a sketchbook or notebook (or our own Nature Notebook), general stationary supplies, and a Bible. We also provide a recommended Book List of picture books to read to your child, these are all optional but could be accessed from your local library. Access to the natural world, either a garden, park or countryside, is encouraged.
