Little Gems is a year-long Early Years programme, suitable for ages 3 to 7 approximately. Lessons can be graded as required to fit the level and ability of each child. The curriculum begins in September and explores the native flora and fauna of Ireland and the British Isles. Each month progresses alphabetically, and the children will learn about plants and animals relevant to that period of the year.

As well as the natural world, the student will learn about foundations for literacy, early maths skills, art and poetry, simple sign language, the human body, and the physical environment. There are craft projects and simple recipes included. Each lesson also explores two classic Sunday School choruses and two simple Bible verses.

Instead of a workbook, we have a Nature Notebook where students can practice forming their letters and numbers, make observational drawings and rubbings of the world around them, and keep a record of what they learn throughout the year.

This curriculum has a strong Christian ethos throughout, even more so than Emerald Island. We strongly believe in giving our young children a solid Biblical foundation for life and learning. We teach from a nondenominational perspective, and Bible memory verses in the textbook are from the Christian Standard Bible. As with all our curriculums, we can also provide these in other versions if requested.
